Deljana Iossifova

Senior Lecturer in Urban Studies, University of Manchester

Currently, Deljana is the Chair of the Urban Studies Foundation and PI on a portfolio of international inter- and transdisciplinary projects examining the design, implementation and use of urban sanitation infrastructures in China, India and Brazil. These projects adopt a transdisciplinary approach that draws on social practice, complexity and transition theories and works with innovative digital methodologies for data analysis.

Iossifova is the author of ‘Translocal Ageing in the Global East’ (Palgrave, 2020) and co-editor of ‘The Complex Dynamics of Urban Infrastructure Transitions: Health and Sustainability in Cities of the Global South’ (SpringerNature, 2021) and ‘Defining the Urban’ (Routledge, 2017).
